things to do

16 September 2015 by Local Food Tours

Fall means two things: sweater weather, and a welcome back to hot beverages. Here’s a list of ten things you can do while you enjoy the cool, crisp weather.

10. Try a pretzel from Montreal’s very own Bretzel & Compagniethings to do this fall montreal bretzel

Coffee in hand and warm pretzel in the other, fall is a time for sung sweaters and tasty treats. Bretzel and Compagnie is a local Montreal shop that offers authentic Bavarian-style soft pretzels from traditional to gourmet flavors like: cheddar n’chili, chocolate drizzled, roasted garlic, cinnamon sugar, and maple glazed. Mmm… (Disclaimer: their instagram will make you drool).

9.  Walk through the Gardens of Light

Pop Montreal is a non-for-profit international music festival, that presents emerging artists from around the world. Running from September 17th-21st, this years line up is definitely worth getting excited about. (We recommend: The Unicorns, Lakes of Canada and Special Noise!)

7. Get your chai latté at café 1880

Budget friendly, cordial staff, and cozy- not to mention that this place serves one of the best chai lattés in town. It is creamy, delicious and made with an actual tea bag (not syrup) and is drizzled with honey on top. (They even serve Felix and Norton cookies!)

6. Go to the Festival du Nouveau Cinema

Fall wouldn’t be complete without its celebration of color. Go for a walk in the jewel of Montreal: Mont Royal. There are plenty of paths to choose from that lead to wooded areas and landscapes. However if your feeling adventurous, on Sundays, behind the Tam Tams in the woods, medieval battles take place with mock-up weapons!

Restaurant Day is all about good food, good company, and a good time. Describing itself as a worldwide food festival, it is a day where anyone can set up a restaurant, café, or a bar, in a home, at an office, on a street corner, in a garden or inner courtyard, at a park, or on a beach. Also known as “one day restaurants”, it is a day to spend discovering culture and cuisine. Next restaurant day for Montreal is: November 21th!
