WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE PLATEAU & ‘THE MAIN’ FOOD TOUR?
One-of-a-Kind Food Tasting – On our 2 hour tour of the famous Plateau Mont-Royal neighbourhood, we invite you to taste the best of the old and the new. Visit the restaurants that have become beloved Montreal institutions like Schwartz’s deli with its world-renown smoked meat and Du Rosaire’s delicious traditional Portuguese natas. We visit the new popular bars and restaurants that have turned into instant Plateau hot spots. We explore this new generation of eateries with our first stop at Épicerie Hao that serves unique steamed buns inspired by small Tokyo counter restaurants. Next, the tour discusses the history behind Jewish food at Cafe Fletcher, and finishes with local cheeses and refreshing craft cider at the hip and beautiful Bar Darling. All food tastings are included in the ticket price. We even throw in a water bottle to keep you hydrated. For more details on the tasting locations, please see the column on the right.
Historic & Cultural Experience – The Plateau Mont-Royal is a beautiful place to stroll through with its colourful buildings and vibrant culture. There’s a piece of history on every street corner. Your knowledgeable tour guide walks you through the history of the Portuguese and Jewish communities that made this neighbourhood what it is today. We walk up the lively Saint-Laurent street, also known as The Main, and explore its industrial past. We’ll have a taste of the high-end Asian eateries beginning to blossom on Rachel street and even take a peek at the legendary songwriter Leonard Cohen’s former house. Take in and learn about the various murals found throughout the area and the local artists who created them. The Plateau Mont-Royal is a central neighbourhood in Montreal and is home to many of the city’s best cafes, bars, art, and restaurants. Explore this unique neighbourhood through its delicious food and let us show you what makes the Plateau tick!
