Itinerary:

Meet by the steps of the Temple du Change to begin your journey through Lyon’s Old Town.
Start with a hearty savory dish once served to the Canuts, the silk workers who helped build Lyon’s legacy, paired with a glass of wine.
Wander the charming streets of Vieux Lyon and discover the hidden traboules (secret passageways) that make this district so unique.
Stop at an elegant local sweet shop to enjoy a traditional Lyonnais pastry.
Cross the Saône River into the Presqu’île district, known for its monuments, statues, and fountains.

We’ll meet in the Vieux Lyon area, in front of the Temple, Place du Change, 69005 Lyon. If you’re coming by subway, exit at Vieux Lyon on line D, pass in front of Cathedral Saint-Jean, and walk to the end of Saint-Jean Street.

Think of the tour as a tasting menu. As we travel you get many delicious treats that comprise a meal with desert, fruit, and snacks. You will not feel hungry after the tour.

WALKING DISTANCE

To join our food tour, you should wear comfortable shoes. There will be around 1.5 hours of walking but it is not too difficult. If you walk slowly, then our guide will walk slowly as well.

FOREIGN TRANSACTION FEES

A few banks have charged their customer an extra fee while booking with us (this isn’t the booking fee but another fee added by the bank). We think this is unfair, if this happens let us know by showing us in your bank statement and we will refund this fee as a gesture of good will.

BOOKING FEE REASON

The booking fee that you have to pay is up to our ticket provider and we can’t change it. All our clients need to pay for it upon booking. The booking fee charged contributes to the cost of the ticketing system to provide an excellent service to our customers.

FULLY BOOKED OPTIONS

Our tours are often sold out very quickly. If the date you requested is not available, please do not hesitate to email us and we can see if there is anything we can do.

FAMILY KIDS POLICY

Children are quite welcome and it’s free for any child 2 years or under. We can give them non-alcoholic drinks and you are free to enjoy the tour with your entire family of all ages.

My husband and went on this tour in October 2019 and couldn’t fault it. Our host Eillin was welcoming and friendly, and flexible to accommodate the needs of the group (some members were a little less mobile than other). The food destinations and foods picked were beautiful and delicious, accompanied by informative and thoughtful explanations and history. A bonus of our trip was that Eillin is extremely knowledgeable about the city architecture and so it felt like we were getting a beautiful city walking tour as well as a food tour.

I cannot say enough good things about Secret Food Tours or our guide Eillin. I’ve done other food tours with different companies and felt completely overwhelmed and slightly disappointed. However, the pace of this tour was perfect! I felt like we got more than enough food and drinks, but never felt like I was being force fed. Plus, you can tell Eillin is truly passionate about what she does and truly made the tour so special. Her knowledge was top-notch and she was very welcoming. I would highly recommend this tour.
